Getting Here

The closest airport is Liberia, it's about a 2 and half hour drive depending on traffic. There are two main routes, the coastal route and one that goes through Nicoya. We recommend the route through Nicoya. The route that runs closer to the beach and that goes through San Juanillo involves a river crossing between Ostional and Nosara which rental car companies aren't too fond of! Unless it has been raining hard recently it generally isn't an issue, but still probably best to avoid. Supposedly there is a bridge coming any day, it is about 90% done as of January 2025 but it is anyones guess when it will finish. Once that is done, it will be a more practical option.

It is also possible to fly in to San Jose. It is about a 4 1/2 hour drive.

From either San Jose or Liberia, it is possible to fly on Sansa Airlines (flysansa.com) in to Nosara airport. Flights are very quick, and gets you right in to the town of Nosara, which is about 10 minutes inland from Playa Guiones, the main tourist area.

You can rent a car but you don't really need one if you are staying at Casa Adorada since you can walk everywhere. Once in town, if you want to take a day trip you rent a car in town, or for shorter distances you can hop in a tuk tuk. It is also possible to rent a golf cart or ATV. Cost wise, it is hard to argue against the value of renting a car in Liberia, as you save the shuttle cost to and from. Renting a golf cart for the week often costs about the same as renting a car in Liberia for the week- but the golf carts are more novel and popular with kids usually.

If you would like to avoid renting a car, we can help you arrange for a private shuttle that can pick you up from either international airport. The shuttle will be waiting for you at the airport and drop you off right at the front door of Casa Adorada. If you take a private shuttle you can stop at a grocery on your way. Alternatively, we would be happy to arrange for grocery delivery or even a private chef to have a meal waiting for you when you arrive.
